Livorno Golf Club
The Livorno Golf Club was born from the idea of redeveloping a public area, formerly used as a dumping ground and neglected for many years, located within the city between the sea and a sports complex consisting of tennis, soccer, five-a-side football and baseball fields. The land, spread over an area of 10 hectares within which were built Club-House, bag storage, machinery storage, lighted driving range with 9 indoor stations, pitching green, putting green and a 9-hole par 28 course 100% organic standard approval. The design consists of the central core near the entrance and hub of the club’s social life, consisting of the clubhouse and practice area. Surrounding the central core is the 9-hole course, which was designed and shaped by enhancing the existing morphological conformation of the terrain. The design of the course, supported by 3D models made on the computer, was meticulous and meticulous to the smallest detail The length of the holes was designed to play a different iron at each hole, from 8 of the 9 holes there is a direct view of the sea, and wind conditions greatly affect the difficulty of individual holes. The design stems from the desire to make a course that can both train novices and high hcp players, with the possibility of making different types of shots and then give them the means to deal with each type of course, and to test and offer a difficult training ground for low hcp players. Driven by the desire to create a 100 percent organic course, the choice fell on a facility entirely made of macroterma, both for tees and fairways and for greens. This choice will lead to the absence of the use of pesticides or other chemicals for the maintenance of the field and a saving of up to 50% of water resources. In addition, photovoltaic panels and solar panels will be installed to power the clubhouse and other outbuildings. Regarding vegetation and plantings, the choice fell on leaving between the holes and near the boundaries of the course the spontaneous vegetation that is very active in this area and on planting native essences in strategic points both for safety and for the game.
